Earlier this summer, we got lucky enough to see a family of House

Finches grow up in our yard!

It was fun & interesting & WONDERFUL because mom & dad did

all the hard work! (LOL)

But, I have some great photos to share with you!

 

The first day they were noticed was June 13th, 2006. They had a

bit of feathers. They were so

cute & pipped a LOT for food! LOL They would get SOOOOO loud!!

Then mom & dad would be

telling them something along the lines of what I figured to be "SHUT

UP these people out here will

eat you!" (LOL!)

This is the only good pic I got of either of the parents! LOL Darned

buggers would NOT cooperate

& stay still for a photo op! LOL But this is dad! He is very handsome! 

     

 

06-21-06 They began fledging early the next day, so I was so glad I

took these pics that night!!

They were they cutest little things & grew so quickly! But I can

definitely say it is hard work caring

for these little babies! Mom & dad kept a constant close-by vigil &

were constantly bringing them

worms & stuff. And I have to report that these 2 little tiny birds had

SEVEN!! babies!! LOL 1 fell out

of the next, unfortunately, it was dead when I found it:( I guess the

fall killed it. But the other 6

lived to fledge out of the nest to their parents at the very least;)

In case you are wondering were they nested, they chose to build a

next in the the top of our 75-gal

propane tank! LOL Crazy things!! :}

 

 

  

 

 

 

 We also watched 4 frogs grow from tadpoles to frogs this summer.

We released them back were

we caught them. Very fun & interesting to see a froggie get legs;)

We also had 2 turtles. Adorable.

We have 1 now.
