Sometimes I get other calls! lol These calls are more specialized & taken on a case by case consideration depending on what else I have going on.
These do not fall into the same category as the wildlife. Domestic animals are taken per case - as mentioned. Raising orphaned domestics is very time consuming & costly. Not to mention needing to find them a home depending on the circumstances.
Donations are NOT used on these cases! The only donations used here is IF the person who calls gives $$ for the care of that animal's care. This is extremely helpful due to the cost & any medical probs that may arise.
The first of these calls was actually from my mom. This was a Koi emergency! (lol)
----- I had went by the school on a Friday to do a couple things & then was going to head to her house. This was when I still had class Fri. I called mom after leaving school & she was like hurry & get here. My pond sprung a leak! Geesh! Her pond got a hole from a chipmunk or vole or something & was pretty low when she got home. I go there & she had run the hose in & I pailed water out into another container & caught the fish I could. I did not want to stress them out. My brother ended up finishing & getting them & fixing the pond. However, this was extrememly hard on her fish & many of them died! It was horrible because we had some very pretty additions for her pond, which included a big guy who was awesome.
10/3/06 The 2nd call I got in this category was actually on 2 newborn kittens. I was unsure of their age, but after doing some research online I judged them at 2-3 days old. I don't know how long they were without their mom, but long enough to become cold & cry for her. I gotten them in about 20 to 8 Tuesday evening. I got them in & warmed them. Unfortunately, they did not make it through the night & died in the early morning hours Wed. I did try those 5hrs though. Poor little things. These people were very willing to have the kittens back & to even reimburse for their care! I felt terrible to have to let them know the little babies had died. :*(
